This is an excellent time of year to act to support our local Saanichton businesses. Be creative! There are lots of opportunities to buy gifts large and small right here in Saanichton village and at our neighbouring farms and wineries. Over the next few weeks we’ll post some ideas on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SaanichtonVillage Association) and we’d really appreciate you sharing some of your gift ideas too. Remember closer is better!
The Old Attic (7925 East Saanich Road) is a fascinating place to stop by and visit on your Christmas tour. The store is also on the Christmas Tree Trail, part of Saanichton Community Christmas on December 14. I posted about RockCoast Toffee Bark on our Facebook page earlier this week – here’s where you can buy this yummy local product right here in beautiful downtown Saanichton!
Amber Isles, toffeetier and founder of RockCoast, brings passion to her products (from www.rockcoast.ca/aboutrockcoast/):
“My work as a Veterinary Technician led me to South America to volunteer spaying and neutering animals. Upon my return I realized that I could combine my love for animals and cooking. I could make delicious treats that bring smiles to faces and use partial proceeds from each box to support stray animals.
“In my travels I discovered how much help is needed to provide better veterinary care and supplies for stray, sick and injured animals. With proceeds raised, RockCoast will purchase medical supplies and volunteer time. The hope is that this support will increase quality of life for animals and enable a higher level of veterinary care.
“RockCoast confections provide high quality sweets and allow people to treat themselves or others to something truly special. I use only natural ingredients that are gluten free and free of artificial flavourings and colours. I am working hard to purchase my ingredients as locally as possible to support other businesses in the community.”
